New! Drop Off and Pick Up Info for our Main Campus:

Please drop off and pick up students at the sidewalk in front of our main building. Today we had a “near accident” when a truck didn’t see a student crossing South Street. If at all possible do not wait for your students on the opposite side of the street. Thank You!

NEW! Mark Your Calendars: Winter Kamp for January 17, 2018

On Wednesday, January 17, we are very excited to bring you Winter Kamp 2018! These classes are designed to develop your teaching skills as parent-teachers and to encourage and motivate you for the rest of the school year. This year we will be offering keynote speaker, Tom Karnes, choice of 8 exciting classes, a continental breakfast and goodie bag for you! Also, Kid’s Kamp will be provided to all registered Kampers. Online sign up and Workshop Schedule and Descriptings coming soon.  We look forward to seeing everyone there!

New! Next PEP meeting scheduled for 1/22/17 at 10:00am

This is an early meeting because we have our mid-year Star Renaissance testing going on at the same time! You can schedule your 3rd-8th grade students to test and then come down to Room E for a Townhall/PEP meeting. New attendees are always welcome! Come give your ideas, suggestions, etc. and help plan fun activities for students in our school.
* Child Care for 2nd grade and younger will be provided.

Our VO High School Prom Committee is raising money to help pay for this year’s VO HS Prom. Let’s all help them out by ordering yummy Valentine’s treats for our friends and family… it’s a win/win!

New! To Valley Oaks Science Fair Participants,

The Valley Oaks Science Fair will take place at the Bakersfield campus in the portable classrooms.

Please plan on arriving by 9:00 to receive instructions, placement of your project and to set up for the Science Fair.  Please come dressed appropriately for the Science Fair (Business Casual is a good idea).

For the VOCS Science Fair, please be sure to bring your Science Notebook/Journal and 5 copies of your abstract as you may have up to 5 judges who would like to view it at the same time.  Your abstract should include the project hypothesis and summaries of the experimental methods, results and conclusions.  Keep practicing your presentation to the judges and good luck!!


🎶TK-8 Holiday Party  – December 15th – Sign-up closed

The Holiday Party time has been changed to 1:00-2:00pm only, due to a smaller number of signups than anticipated. If you are signed up, we are looking forward to seeing you this coming Friday, December 15th, promptly at 1:00pm. Please be on time as the craft time is limited. And don’t forget your plate of cookies (1 per family) as your entry fee! See you there!
**We’ll be singing “The Twelve Days of Christmas”, so if you want to introduce your children to the song ahead of time that would be great!

Zaner-Bloser Handwriting Contest

Would you Believe you can win $1000 for yourself and $1000 for your school? Kindergarten through second grade will use manuscript printing, but third through eighth must use cursive.

The official entry form is due by Friday, January 12th at 12:00 noon. Entry forms are available in our school office.


BEE a good speller and come have some fun!

It’s time for 3rd – 8th grade students to sign up for the Spelling Bee. Pick up your word list in the front office to start studying. The Spelling Bee will be Thursday, January 11, 2018 1:30 at our Bakersfield campus in Rooms 1-2. Questions? Contact Mrs. Bryant  Hope to see you there!


Battle of the Books (BOB) Informational Meeting

Who: all 3rd -6th graders are welcome

Hello readers, hopefully you have already been to the office to pick up your Battle of the Books Packets and began reading your list of books.  We are having an informational meeting to give out some more details, to discuss future dates and how to prepare for Battle of the Books.  If this is the first you have heard of Battle of the Books, you are not too late.  The competition is not until the Spring.  So please come to our meeting and get some helpful information.
