After many weeks and hours of hard work memorizing and reciting a selection from published literature, several students from VOCS Tehachapi traveled “down the hill” on Monday, November 3, to compete in the annual VOCS Oral Language Festival. They competed in categories by grade level 4th-6th grade and 7th-8th grade. These categories were further divided into serious solo, humorous solo, serious duo, and humorous duo. The selection has to be at least three minutes long, but not longer than five minutes. That is a lot of memorizing for anyone! But these fearless nine committed to working diligently and succeeded in giving awesome performances.
The following students placed first in his/her category: Kristen, Isaac, Stephen, Samuel, Kent, Grant, Bradley, and Saida. Great job all of you!!
Several of these winners also qualified to participate in the Oral Language Regional Competition to be held December 5 in Bakersfield. The qualifiers include Isaac, Stephen, Kent, Grant, Bradley, and Saida.
